As of June 2011, the Office of Cultural Affairs is no longer providing the Arts Education programs and services listed and described in this section. While we firmly believe in the importance of arts education, the City's operating budget deficit resulted in the elimination of many important programs and services.
Many of our San Jose arts organizations that have participated in OCA Arts Education programs over the years will continue to offer arts exposure, engagement and educational opportunities for San Jose youth. Please check back at this site in early August for additional information and links to arts education resources.
If you have any questions, please email Arlene Biala or call (408) 793.4332.
The OCA is a participant in the South Bay Arts Education Collaborative, an informal association of arts education organizations dedicated to increasing their collective capacity to provide high-quality arts education services to South Bay youth. SBAEC offers training workshops for teaching artists and classroom teachers, creates networking and sharing opportunities through periodic roundtable meetings, and establishes a forum for the local arts education community. Other participating organizations include the Santa Clara County Office of Education, ARTPATH/San Jose State University, the Community School of Music & Arts, and others.
The OCA also organizes arts education workshops for general after-school staff at the local CalSAC (California School-Age Consortium) regional conference each year.
For general professional development information, e-mail Arlene Biala or call (408) 793.4332.
