Community Outreach Meeting on Proposed Special Event Ordinance

Monday, January 14th, 2013, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm San Jose City Hall, 200 East Santa Clara Street, Wing Room 120, San Jose, CA 95113

Who should attend? Outdoor special event organizers and producers should attend. This includes organizers of festivals, parades, walks/runs, and all other types of outdoor events and celebrations in San Jose.

Why? The City of San Jose is considering adoption of a new comprehensive special event ordinance. The proposed ordinance would update and consolidate the existing special events provisions into one ordinance, establishing comprehensive and consistent regulations, including detailed timelines, related to the permitting and use of City streets, parks, paseos and plazas (excluding City Hall Plaza) for outdoor special events. The ordinance would include revised procedures to be implemented, such as new timelines and requirements for completing an application and issuing permit decisions, based on new event categories.

Special event organizers are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting to learn about the proposed ordinance and how it may affect the City’s policies and procedures related to the permitting and coordinating of outdoor special events.

City Hall Parking Garage validation will be provided.

For more information, please contact Special Events Director Tammy Turnipseed at (408) 793-4343.
